How to get to this screen: Click on
Payroll, then
Tax Entities.
The Tax Entities screen is used to enter and maintain tax entities used in payroll calculations.
- Type a Tax ID or use the look up box to search for a tax entity. Use the Tab key on your keyboard to bring up existing information.
- Under the Default Info tab, enter the Tax Entity Name and the Employer Tax ID for your employer.
- The Standard Deduction is the dollar amount to be taken from gross pay before payroll is calculated.
- Per Exemption is used when the tax entity is using tax tables. This field can be ignored if the tax entity uses a percentage.
- The After Tax Credit field is for the automatic after tax credit per exemption.
- Enter the Straight Percentage if you are using the percentage method for withholding.
- If the tax entity has a ceiling on the total dollar amount to withhold for the year, enter it in the Gross Taxable Limit field.
- Click on the This Tax Uses Tables box if this entity uses tax tables.
- Click on the Zero Tax Bracket box if there is a gross pay amount that is not taxable.
- Click on the Calculate Before Federal box if this is a requirement in your state.
- Use the scroll down menu to locate the Tax Type for this entity.
- The Tax Tables tab is used only for entities that use tax tables.
