User's Guide

This page is a guide on using the General Ledger module. All the links on this page are contained in the General Ledger Course over to the right side of your screen. To get back to this page, click on the User's Guide link at the bottom of each page.

1. Create your company's Chart of Accounts first.
2. Go to the System File and complete the General Ledger set up. (New User: If you are entering last year's ending balances to begin this year, change the Current Fiscal Per to the last month.) 3. Manual General Ledger entries can be created and managed in Maintain/Print General Journal. (New User: Enter the ending balances as transactions here, then go to Close End of Period to start using the General Ledger.)

To balance the books and create reports:

1. Go to the Edit List Comparison report and run a report for each module (A/P Post to G/L, A/R Post/Print G/L, Payroll Post To G/L) for the month to be balanced. If there are any errors, correct them there or contact the system administrator for help.
2. Once each report is clean and shows a blank page, print the edit list and transfer each module to the General Ledger: Payroll , Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable.
3. Run the Recover G/L.
4. Now the reports should be in balance. Check the Trial Balance, Income Statement, and Balance Sheet. 5. After all reports are printed, Close End of Period.
