How to get to this screen: Click on
Payroll, then
Close Pay Period.
The
Close Current Payroll Period selection is used to end the payroll period and begin a new one. If a weekly payroll is being used, then this close should be run on a weekly basis.
All amounts for the current period that are on the payroll register will be added to the current quarter for all employees that have had pay calculated for the current period.
- Choose from the scroll down menu How Many Weeks In Pay Period?
- Enter the Beginning Period Date. Use the calendar button next to the field or the date may be entered manually.
- Enter the Ending Period Date.
- Click the Run Close button to close out this period. You should always make a back up of this file before it is closed. It is recommended to keep a backup on disk for the last 10 pay periods.
