Beginning User's Guide

NetServiceBooks consists of integrated modules that hold a lot of information. It is much easier to enter all basic information first and work your way up from there. This course is a complete step-by-step guide to make the transition to NSB go smoothly. (All links below have a 'Back to Getting Started' link at the bottom to bring you back to this page.)

Step 1: Enter Customers
1.Create Tax Entities in the Payroll module and Maintain Sales Tax in the Billing module.2. Enter customers in Maintain Customers and Maintain Billcodes in the Billing module.(If you are using QuickBooks, Skip this step and go to the QuickBooks icon in NSB's Main Menu.)

Step 2: Create General Ledger and System Files (This step is optional but recommended; financial statements are generated automatically in the General Ledger.)
1. Create the Chart of Accounts in the General Ledger module.2. Set up the System File for the General Ledger, System File for A/R, System File for A/P, and System File for Payroll with the correct G/L account numbers from the Chart of Accounts.

Step 3: Enter Employees and Vendors
1. Enter employees in the Employee File in Payroll.(If you are using QuickBooks, Skip this step and go to the QuickBooks icon in the Main Menu.)
2. Use the Chart of Accounts and Tax Entities entered in Step 1.
3. Enter Vendors in the Accounts Payable module.(If you are using QuickBooks, Skip this step and go to the QuickBooks icon on the Main Menu.)4.Use the Chart of Accounts entered in Step 1.

Step 4: Enter Jobs
1. Enter any Default Phases/Tasks that your company uses to break down labor, materials and/or sub-contractors for jobs.
2. Enter all current jobs in New Job/Estimate in the Job Cost module.

Now you are ready to begin using NetServiceBooks!
